- In January 2010 Antoinette Kriel took part in the Dusi Canoe Marathon in Natal, South Africa. This is a 3-day event covering about 120 km from Pietermaritzburg to Durban on the Msinduzi and Umgeni Rivers. She hooked up with paddling partner, Braam van Wyk, from Windhoek, Namibia, via the internet and they met 2 days before the race. They both saw the kayak for the first time a day before the race! With Braam's two sisters Esther and Jo-Annie supporting them, they managed to complete the race in a total of about 14 hours, about halfway up the field of about 800 boats - mostly K2s (despite smashing up our kayak on the third day in a massive rapid - FUN :-). View some action shots here. More information about the race at www.dusi.org.za
