These are the access locations for some of our more regular haunts - double-check with the organiser if unsure on the night!
Aberdeen Boat Club - Grid Ref NJ 943 052. (South Esplanade West). Just off Queen Elizabeth Bridge (South bank of river). Launch from steps next to Club. Usually plenty parking on the Esplanade or within the Boat Club car park itself. Don't leave valuables on display in car! Bar, washing/changing facilities and nibbles available in Boat Club.
Stonehaven - Grid Ref - NO 878 853. Meet at far right end of the harbour, next to the boat sheds. Space for ~6 cars next to sheds, also plenty parking along quayside. Launch either from the beach (often dumping surf) or from slipway(s) within harbour. Harbour often busy with yachts, MRI or sea cadets training. Nearest pub - The Ship Inn (good food and beer) or the Marine Hotel (recently refurbished, excellent food and good range of beers).
Catterline - Grid Ref - NO 871 783. Follow road past Creel Inn, steeply down to harbour. Limited and frequently awkward parking - be considerate and ensure access for (fisherman) boat launching is maintained. Launch from beach behind harbour wall - always sheltered. Harbour usually quiet, apart from occasional diving groups or local fishermen. Nearest pub - Creel Inn (great food and real ale, crab soup highly recommended!).
Cove - Grid Ref - NJ 955 005. Follow road over railway bridge, turn right then left steeply down to harbour. Limited parking - park considerately, watch out for rocks, metal spikes. Launch from shingle beach behind harbour wall, always sheltered. Harbour generally quiet. Nearest pub - Cove Hotel.
Portlethen - Grid Ref - NO 935 963. Very limited parking, and difficult access to beach (steep carry). Best launching/landing around high tide, otherwise you'll have a long walk! Harbour generally quiet. No pub near launch site.
Cruden Bay - Grid Ref - NK 095 356. Plenty parking at quayside. Launch from slipway/beach within harbour entrance, always sheltered. Harbour generally quiet. Nearest pub (not next to harbour) St Olaf Hotel
Boddam - Grid Ref - NK 134 427. Plenty parking, but there have been reports of cars being broken into, so be warned. Launch from beach within harbour walls, always sheltered. No pubs near launch site?
